Abbott comes to town
Dolphins and Protea cricketing star Kyle Abbott made a trip home.
LOCAL Sunfoil Dolphins and Proteas cricketer Kyle Abbott made a trip home yesterday to Felixton College, where he chatted to the school about Hospice and his career.
The Zululand Hospice Ambassador spread the message of palliative care to the Felixton youth.
This was the first of many functions that Kyle will do for Hospice this year.
‘It is nice to come back to a place where you have roots,’ said Abbott.
The talented cricketer attended Felixton College and Grantleigh, before ending his schooling career at Kearsney College in Durban.
He told the pupils that they have great opportunities and facilities to work with to utilise a sporting career.
‘I was a net bowler for six months at the Dolphins before I got a break.’
After Kyle’s grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, Hospice House provided great support for his granddad and grandmother during the tragic time.
Abbott’s mother has been working for and donating money to Hospice for years, and therefore he chose to be their ambassador.
‘If I can leave you all with one lesson it is this – life throws us curve balls and opportunities. Whatever you do, give 100% and never look back.’
