A WOMAN washed a large amount of drugs in the washing machine in an attempt to hide the consignment when police swooped on her premises during an operation in Mzingazi on Friday night.
Veliswe Cele (43), charged with possession and dealing in dangerous dependence producing substances appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until the formal bail application next week.
Members of the Richards Bay SAPS and Crime Intelligence conducted a search operation on a premises believed to be selling drugs and recovered the suspected illegal substances believed to be estimated at R46 000 as well as cash.
According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira when members arrived at the property at about midnight and found the suspect doing laundry.
On inspection they discovered the substances, some had been placed in the machine and were being washed.
The exhibits were sent for forensic analysis.
