Cops nab dagga dealer suspect in Pongola

Zululand cluster police spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said the suspect was arrested on Sunday night after Pongola police received a tip-off about a vehicle parked on a gravel road in the Emphafeni area

A 24-year-old suspect appeared in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with dealing in dagga, and was remanded in police custody for further investigation.

He is expected to reappear at the same court next Monday for a formal bail application.

Zululand cluster police spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said the suspect was arrested on Sunday night after Pongola police received a tip-off about a vehicle parked on a gravel road in the Emphafeni area.

‘They approached the vehicle and the driver appeared nervous. When police searched the vehicle, they discovered 13 large parcels of compressed dagga, weighing about 80kg.

He was placed under arrest and his vehicle confiscated,’ said Gwala.
