Soup kitchen brightens up pensioners’ day
Ingredients for the soup were donated by local businesses and individuals. Those unable to donate food items gave cash donations

VOLUNTEERS rallied for a massive eShowe community-driven soup kitchen for pensioners on Monday morning.
Ingredients for the soup were donated by local businesses and individuals. Those unable to donate food items gave cash donations.
After cooking 1 250 litres of soup on Sunday, stations were set up at 6am, with distribution taking place from 7am by 32 servers at five venues at pension payout points throughout the town.
After sanitising their hands, the pensioners were offered a cup of soup and a slice of bread, while they waited in the long queues which lined the streets from early in the morning.
