New Principal for Bay school
New face at the helm of Betesda Independent School
A NEW Principal has taken up the reins at Betesda Independent School in Richards Bay.
Former Port Natal High School senior teacher Hendrik Kruger was appointed earlier this month and is looking forward to apply his wealth of expertise and experience to take the school forward.
As an educator for over 25 years, Kruger said he grabbed the opportunity to relocate from Durban and start a new chapter in Richards Bay to help develop the school.
He was impressed with the school’s ‘family spirit’ and the teachers’ enthusiasm to grow and improve, and wants to add to the school’s offerings in terms of academic programmes, sport and community involvement.
The 52-year-old enjoys working with children and believes his experience in trauma counselling, leadership training and majoring in mathematics, technical drawing(TD), geography and life skills will add value to the local community.
‘The school will now offer technical drawing and we will be able to broaden our subject offering and also introduce rugby, netball, soccer and a host of other sporting codes.
‘Qualified as a KZN rugby referee, I am eager to get the school’s sport teams geared up and ready to compete in inter-schools events.
‘There are a host of new opportunities, such as creating more exposure for the school, engaging in community development programmes and events and supporting local charities.
‘Our aim is to instill pride into pupils and build and strengthen them to achieve to the best of their abilities,’ he said.
