Possible rabies case in eSikhaleni

During the week 18 to 24 April no animals were tested positive for rabies in the Zululand region

A DOG found roaming the streets of eSikhaleni in the King Cetshwayo District on Friday, has been euthanised since he showed signs of rabies.

The dog’s brain was sent for rabies testing.

During the week 18 to 24 April no animals were tested positive for rabies in the Zululand region.

The eThekwini Metro reported four confirmed cases though.

Dogs in St Winifreds, Athlone Park, Adam’s Mission and Amanzimtoti were all found to have the disease.

A fifth case in KZN was reported in the Swayimana area in Umgungundlovu.

In the Eastern Cape, one dog in Engcobo was found to have rabies.

The public is reminded to be vigilant and report any animal showing strange behaviour to their local Department of Agriculture office.
