People were charged for breaking the lockdown regulations by selling liquor and cigarettes, not being in possession of permits and failing to remain in their residences.
Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira, said operations would be intensified over the Easter weekend to ensure citizens comply with the Covid-19 regulations.
‘As we approach the third week of the lockdown, the public must adhere to the rules as there will be no leniency for those taking chances to move around unnecessarily.
‘The public has been urged to take the regulations seriously and not leave their homes for reasons other than to acquire essential goods or services. The efforts of the government to stop the spread of the coronavirus should not be undermined,’ said Ferreira.
