A PAROLEE was arrested by eShowe SAPS on Monday, after he was positively linked to various crimes.
The 42-year-old suspect was linked to a house break-in and theft which occurred at Mangosuthu Buthelezi Drive in eShowe on Tuesday, 3 March.
He was also linked to a house robbery and sexual assault case which took place in Sunnydale in October 2019.
The victim alleges that in March this year, he went to bed and when he woke up, he discovered that the door was wide open and his TV set, home theatre and groceries had been stolen.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said that eShowe SAPS members chased a meter taxi which was spotted loading stolen items from the bush.
‘Police cornered the taxi and the driver said he had been hired to transport the goods, and mentioned the suspects as the owner of the stolen goods. The driver was arrested and charged for possession of stolen goods, and the victim positively identified his goods.
‘The suspect was also linked to a Sunnydale house robbery case, which took place last year, 19 October.
‘It is alleged that the victim was asleep at her home when the suspect, with his accomplice, forced entry into the house. At gunpoint they robbed their victim of a cellphone and other household goods estimated at R50 850.
‘One of the suspects allegedly sexually assaulted the victim,’ he said.
Mdlalose explained that a case of house robbery and rape was registered for investigation, and fingerprints which linked the suspect were taken from the scene.
‘When Crime Information Management Analysis Centre (CMIC) was doing their crime analysis, they picked up that the suspect was a parolee.
‘He was arrested when he went to Correctional Services to sign. He was charged for burglary, house robbery and rape cases and is expected to appear at eShowe Magistrate’s Court soon,’ Mdlalose said.
