Richards Bay rasta band at Bob Marley celebration
RICHARDS Bay band, Sizwe Zakwe and The Rastaz Project will perform at the Bob Marley Birthday Celebration in Durban next month.
The six-piece reggae band consists of the following band members: Thulani Zungu, Zenzo Langa, Mike Nsele, Themba Zungu and lead singer, Sizwe Zakwe.
The Bob Marley Birthday Celebration will be held at uShaka Marine in Durban on 9 February from 9am.
Sizwe Zakwe and The Rastaz Project will share the stage with Limpopo’s reggae star, Colbert Mkwehvo, The Mediators and Azania band from Cape Town.
The band was founded in 2006 in Empangeni under the leadership of Sizwe Zakwe.
The musicians first album, ‘Now or Never’ was completed at the end of 2007.
The album received air time on national TV stations including SABC 1 and Channel O. The band is well-known on the community radio stations as well as 1KZN TV.
In 2012 the Sizwe Zakwe and The Rastaz Project played in a movie starring Hilary Swank. ‘Maria and Morna’ was shot in eDokodweni near uMthunzini.
The reggae lovers have performed throughout the province as well as at government events, concerts and the annual Dolosfees in Richards Bay.
