Load-shedding possibility increases

The power utility said this was owing to generation units tripping unexpectedly, reducing available capacity

The power utility said this was owing to generation units tripping unexpectedly, reducing available capacity.

‘We are utilising more emergency generation reserves than initially planned to supplement the supply.

‘However, some generation units are planned to return to service today and tomorrow. This will improve the outlook for this week and help reduce the possibility of load-shedding.’ Eskom said.

Customers were warned that power cuts could be implemented at short notice if there are changes to the generation system’s performance.
