Man drowns at Amatikulu
An eShowe fisherman drowns while crossing the Amatikulu estuary
AN ESHOWE resident Kesevan Naicker (33) drowned on Saturday, 18 January while crossing the Amatikulu estuary near Dokodweni.
He got into difficulty while crossing the Amatikulu River.
Naicker was with some friends who went to the beach on a fishing and swimming outing.
One of the men decided to cross the river to the other side and Naicker followed, but half way across, he got into trouble and disappeared under the water.
Witnesses went to his rescue, but he was swept away before they could reach him.
His body was recovered by SAPS divers the next day.
