Applications open for police reservists

Reservists are expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours voluntary duty each month

THE King Cetshwayo and Zululand police clusters invite members of the community who are energetic and physically fit to volunteer as police reservists to help combat crime.

Duties are voluntary without any compensation being paid.

Reservists are expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours voluntary duty each month.

Candidates must be South African citizens by birth, between 20 and 50 years old, must be in possession of a Grade 12 national senior certificate and be able to read and write in two official languages, of which one must be English.

They must be prepared to take the prescribed oath of office, not have a criminal record and provide proof of residential address.

They must also not have tattoos which will be visible when wearing a uniform.

The closing date for applications is on Friday and forms are available at local police stations.
