Man up delegates told

Hosted by Thokozani ‘Shakes’ Ngema of Boys to Men, the purpose of the programme was to create a platform for men to unpack their issues in a supportive environment

MEN shared their stories and identified some of the issues affecting them during the first men’s conference at the Empangeni Civic Centre on Saturday.

Hosted by Thokozani ‘Shakes’ Ngema of Boys to Men, the purpose of the programme was to create a platform for men to unpack their issues in a supportive environment.

During his speech, philanthropist Ishwar Ramlutchman outlined some of the challenges facing men.

He encouraged them to work together to identify problems affecting them and their communities.

He said men must take a responsibility for their actions.

‘Apart from creating platforms where we share our problems, we must learn to accept accountability for everything we do, whether at home or outside.

With the rise of women abuse in the country, spiritual healer Prof Dr 3 Seconds pleaded with men not to look away when they witness abuse, but rather support and protect their neighbours, children and women.

‘We must learn not to turn a blind eye on abuse, but to expose abusers,’ he said.
