Where babies are delivered with care

The Maternity Unit at Life Empangeni Private Hospital is a modern, welcoming space.

Experienced, dedicated maternity nursing professionals make the birth experience as memorable as possible for new parents.

The hospital has a 12-bed maternity unit with two semi-private rooms (two-bedded) and eight private rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

There are two labour rooms and two first stage rooms, each room single bed offering excellent privacy.

Life Empangeni Private Hospital is a baby and family friendly facility and encourages:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Kangaroo bonding
  • Rooming-in (mother and baby sharing a room)

The father is allowed to spend the night with the mother and newborn baby in a single-bedded room equipped with a comfortable recliner chair. This is to promote family bonding and allows for the mother to rest, which is essential for successful breastfeeding and recuperation.

Neonatal care

Life Empangeni Private Hospital has a five-bed Neonatal ICU situated within the maternity unit.

All Neonatal ICU nursing professionals undergo ongoing and sustained specialised training for high level neuro-developmental care of premature infants and all other neonates.
