GRAB your diary and make note of these events happening in and around Empangeni and Richards Bay this weekend.

SATURDAY: The 1st Richards Bay Sea Scouts hosts its first Steel Bridge Market of the year from 9am to 2pm.
A bumper day of activities is planned with bonsai, books, paintings, clothing, arts and crafts and food on sale. For more information or to book a stall, phone 083 4413666.

SATURDAY: Richards Bay SPCA month-end market day at its premises in Meerensee. All charity shops will be open, as will the kitchen, which means there is plenty to browse and buy, from books and household items to children’s toys and bric-a-brac.
Future events to diarise:

SATURDAY, 01 Feb: Entries are open for the next K9 parade and trail run to be held at the Zululand Kayak Club.
Fun for the whole family, including the furry ‘children’. There is a 3km and a 5km K9 walk, and a 10km trail run for those wanting to push it a bit further. Enter online at www.magic-moments.co.za or email magicmomentsrb@gmail.com.

SUNDAY, 02 Feb: Gijima for CANSA 5km run/walk takes place at Addison Park in Empangeni. To commemorate World Cancer Day, the run/ walk is open to all, both children and adults. The cost is R70 for adults and R50 for children and includes a CANSA wrap. Tickets can be bought in advance on Quicket.

SUNDAY, 02 Feb: The Meerensee craft market takes place from 9am opposite the Meerensee Mall.

SATURDAY, 15 Feb: Valentine’s dance fund-raiser will be held at St Francis Parish Hall in Richards Bay. For any enquiries call 083 3104589.

SUNDAY, 15 Feb: A Valentine’s dance by moonlight will be hosted by Richards Bay SPCA. Entry is R60 for adults, plus a bag or tin of animal food, and R20 for children. Food and cold drinks will be on sale. For more information, contact the SPCA on 035 7532086.
