Tomb raiding pain

JUST days after they erected a fine tombstone for their mother, an eSikhaleni family was shocked beyond belief when they found their beloved’s resting place totally vandalised on Christmas Day.
The family erected the stone in perfect condition on 11 December, and three days later they had an unveiling ceremony with only close friends and family.
But when they visited the grave at eSikhaleni Cemetery at Christmas they were shattered when they realised it had been completely destroyed.
‘Pieces of slabs were scattered all over the ground and with some missing from the site.

‘When we left the cemetery during the unveiling, we left it in a perfect condition and it was erected correctly,’ said family spokesperson Philile Cele, who said they immediately contacted the funeral parlour where they had purchased the stone.
‘They confirmed it was not due to weather conditions and that someone had purposely vandalised it.
According to Cele, when the family inquired with the cemetery guards about what happened they were left with more
questions than answers.
‘The guards couldn’t give us any clear explanations but informed us the area had no cameras to reveal what really
happened,’ she said.
However, in a surprising twist, Cele said a psychic revealed that someone close to the family apparently paid the guards to gain access to the area.
‘This person can see what happened and says it’s someone close to us.
‘We don’t know if it was just pure jealousy or someone who wanted to hurt the family,’ concluded Cele. According to
City of uMhlathuze Communications Manager Mdu Ncalane the city will investigate upon receiving a formal complaint.
‘The city apologies and sends its condolences to the family. We will follow up by obviously checking the date and time when the incident happened,’ he said
