New pink buoys for holidays
The first six of 40 pink rescue buoys were handed over on the eve of the Christmas holidays and put up at the Bay Hall area
HILLSIDE Aluminium, South32 has partnered with Richards Bay NSRI Station 19 in its drowning prevention programme.
The first six of 40 pink rescue buoys were handed over on the eve of the Christmas holidays and put up at the Bay Hall area.
Pink rescue buoys are erected at strategic places, both coastal and at inland bodies of water, for the public to use when bathers get into difficulty.
The buoy is attached to a long rope and is thrown to the person in trouble.
A number have been installed around Zululand and are crucial to the NSRI’s drowning prevention programme.
To be used for emergencies only, members of the public are urged to return the buoys to their fixtures once used.
