Christmas decor for 2019
While the traditional look of red, green and gold Christmas decor is still a strong option, there is a global movement towards more Christmas decor trends

Style is everything these days and the festive season is no different.
While the traditional look of red, green and gold Christmas decor is still a strong option, there is a global movement towards more Christmas decor trends.
If you’re interested in trying something new this year, then here is a sneak peek at the trends dominating Christmas 2019.

The natural look
This year has seen the Scandinavian (simple is more) style continue throughout the home decor and, for Christmas, this trend continues.
Rather than overdoing it with bright, colourful decor items, you can try incorporate the natural world into your home.
Don’t throw out your tinsel and baubles, but rather bring in natural items such as twigs, pine cones, wooden candle holders and lush greenery.

Patterns all over
But it’s not all simplicity. This year’s Christmas decor will also incorporate some vibrancy in the form of patterns – herringbone and polka dots being the more dominant trends.
This can be brought into your Christmas decor through table runners, centre pieces, blankets or just small touches on the tree.

Light it up
If Eskom plays its part, then you can incorporate this enlightening Christmas trend into the home.
Rather than the cold, white light of previous years, 2019 is seeing the emergence of the warm, golden light either on the Christmas tree or to light up ornaments.

Blue tones
This year has warmer tones in lighting arrangements, but cooler tones in the actual decor.
Don’t overdo it with too much blue, but you can bring in a hint of midnight blues, aquamarine hues and cerulean as accent colours for this year’s Christmas decor.

Trendy figurines
The incorporation of nature into Christmas decor continues with this particular trend – animal motifs in decor.
The traditional rocking horses and reindeer can now be accompanied by polar bears and snowy owls.
However, you can make this a truly African theme by bringing in some of our local animals into the mix.
The great thing about decor trends is that you can pick and choose the elements you like and then make them.
Personalise this year’s Christmas trends so that they suit your home, your style and your budget.
