Happy growing her glass recycling business

An entrepreneur based in Richards Bay, Khumalo started her glass recycling business last year and had accumulated 34 tons of broken glass

LOCAL recycler Happy Khumalo has been expanding her business through a collaboration with the Glass Recycling Company (TGRC).

An entrepreneur based in Richards Bay, Khumalo started her glass recycling business last year and had accumulated 34 tons of broken glass.

Despite her hard work and dedication, she has faced a number of challenges, including her struggle to find a buyer for the large quantities of glass.

Following a meeting with the TGRC team, she connected to an existing entrepreneur, Nompilo Recycling, to whom she sold her glass to.

Through this networking opportunity, she has steadily been growing her business and has created employment opportunities for others.

‘Working with the Glass Recycling Company has been a great experience. As someone trying to start a business, I have been able to learn a lot from them,’ she said.

‘I am grateful to TGRC because they helped me when I found it difficult to remain optimistic about recycling glass and I became motivated again.’

‘We are a now a team of three people in the business and it feels good to continue supplementing my income and earning my own money.’
