Fill a shoe box and support seafarers
The Port of Richards Bay Mission to Seafarers is appealing to the public for the donations, which will be handed over to the seafarers in December
HELP bless international seafarers this festive season by filling a shoe box with items to make their time away from loved ones more bearable.
The Port of Richards Bay Mission to Seafarers is appealing to the public for the donations, which will be handed over to the seafarers in December.
There are a number of ways to support the charity project, including running a charity drive at your work, school, organisation or place of worship, or collecting the items listed below on the standard items list or the optional extras list.
Place the items in a wrapped shoe box and deliver it to the seafarers’ mission at 11 Urania Road, at the entrance to the Port of Richards Bay.
The lid must be wrapped separately from the box so the box can be opened for security purposes.
Alternatively, a monetary donation of R200 will cover the cost of a filled shoe box, while R300 will cover the cost of a standard filled shoe box plus a 2GB sim card to assist a seafarer connect with loved ones.
Financial donations can be sent by EFT to Standard Bank account number 637132483, branch code 058030, reference – Shoebox Christmas 2019.
For more information, or to arrange for delivery of donations, contact the Port of Richards Bay Mission to Seafarers Port Chaplain, Mark Classen, on 082 7445554 or mark.classen@mtsmail.org.
