Two arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms

TWO suspects are expected to appear in the Ngwelezana Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday ) to face charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
They were arrested early on Wednesday morning during a joint operation conducted by the King Cetshwayo Cluster Crime Intelligence and National Public Order Police Reserve units in the Mvazana area in Ntambanana.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, said the operation led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms.
‘A 53-year-old suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed Norinco pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition, while the second suspect (26) was found in possession of a 9mm pistol, a homemade firearm and ammunition.’
