THE Port of Richards Bay has adopted a zero tolerance policy to cargo spillage on roads and has issued a stern warning to truck owners.
The port’s Safety, Health and Environment Department has warned that cargo trucks not properly covered will be denied entry into the port.
‘Cargo spillages on the roads is of great concern and contributing to environmental pollution,’ the department said.
‘In an effort to minimise cargo spillages on the roads and to reduce environmental pollution, cargo carrying trucks that are not properly tarped will no longer be allowed access into the Port of Richards Bay, with immediate effect.’
