THE death of a local herdsman, Siphelele Magwaza, has shocked the community of Nkundusi Reserve, near Mtubatuba.
Magwaza’s body was found next to the road near his home on Sunday, after he was reported missing on Friday night.
According to his sister, Zanele, the deceased was last seen rounding up his neighbour’s cattle, as he normally did.
‘He was herding cattle for three households to earn a living.’
According to the source close to the deceased’s family, Siphelele was taking a stand against crime in the area.
Mtubatuba police spokesperson, Captain Justice Hlabisa, confirmed the incident and said a case of murder was opened.
‘The motive for his killing must still be determined and no arrest has yet been made. Police are investigating and have requested anyone who may have information to come forward.
‘People can contact me on 035 5506100 or 064 7331128,’ said Hlabisa.
