Agro-processing promoted in Middle East
Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) recently promoted agro-processing during an Outward Selling Mission (OSM) to Kuwait and Qatar in the Middle East
THE Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) recently promoted agro-processing during an Outward Selling Mission (OSM) to Kuwait and Qatar in the Middle East.
Members were invited by the Department of Trade and Industry to join the mission, with the objective of facilitating access to South African value-added products and services to both countries.
With both countries not able to grow produce, they value imported food supplies and services.
The RBIDZ mission was mainly to promote the agro-processing sector, and assist potential investors needing more information on market requirements.

Planned activities included business-to-business meetings and site visits to companies in sectors such as agro-processing, infrastructure development, oil and gas, healthcare and the automotive sector.
During the two days in Qatar, the trade delegation held meetings with various entities such as the Qatar Chamber, Qatar Financial Centre, Al Jasra Group, Qatar Free Zones Authority and touring the airport free zone at Ras Abo Fontas.
During these meetings a thorough understanding was developed to pave the way for South African companies to venture into the Qatari market.
Qatar Chamber Vice Chairman, Mohamad Bin Ahmad, pointed out a number of agreements that have been signed to remove barriers for trading opportunities.
He said they view SA as one of the developed countries in Africa, and that the Qatar Chamber encourages more companies to enter into partnerships with SA companies.
