Intsika, the isiZulu word for ‘structural pillar’, is our African region Enterprise and Supplier Development Programme.
The sustainable development of small to medium enterprises in our local communities, followed by inclusion into our supply chain, is key to our transformation strategy.
Registering on Intsika increases a company’s chances of being recognised by the South32 Supply Team. South32 is currently on a drive to increase our black-owned EME and QSE vendors within certain scopes and categories, and we are using our online portal to facilitate this process. Intsika is the preferred tool used by the South32 buyers and contract specialist to identify new suppliers.
These identified suppliers will then be invited to tender (on closed tenders) within specified categories/scopes. South32 also uses Intsika to place open tenders; which companies can then bid on. If a company has successfully bid on a tender (open or closed) they will be requested to complete and submit the relevant legally required documentation. Once these documents are reviewed, in accordance with our procurement on-boarding procedure the company will become a South32 vendor.
The South32 Intsika Online Supplier Database is open for all businesses in South Africa, as well as Mozambique, to register. Intsika is a free advertising portal, where South32 also from time to time advertises opportunities to tender.
