Businesses boost disability drive

RICHARDS Bay couple Paulo and Gerda Dos Santos are vigorously campaigning for their upcoming car show which will create awareness and help raise funds to assist persons living with disabilities.
The car fanatics created their non profit company, Mighty Disabled Awareness (MDA) in 2017 to aid the disabled in the community as well as help the elderly and underprivileged.
Scheduled for early next year, the event will also be a platform for car clubs and the biking communities to show their support towards persons living with disabilities.
Sponsorships are streaming in and businesses have already pledged their support through donations of prizes as well as the remodelling and repairs on their vehicle which will be use as a branding tool for MDA.
Alton based business Greg’s Spray Painters sponsored the vehicle body work on their Honda, while Empangeni Renovators completed the mag rim repairs, Bay Sport and Arms sponsored prizes and Onsite Computers contributed towards vehicle repairs.
Their vehicle will also be used as a marketing tool to promote all the sponsors who support their project.
‘We are currently busy with our MDA merchandise, which offers advertising opportunities and will raise funds and awareness that focuses on our disabled community.
‘We are also working on building a facility where disabled members and the elderly can meet on a weekly basis to encourage and motivate each other and a physiotherapist can take the members for a workout in the pool.
‘This workshop will enable MDA to raise funds that will be used for future events and for helping people in need.’
‘We will provide an opportunity for members to attend workshops and enable them to create products they can sell at market days,’ said Gerda.
Anyone interested in supporting the project can contact Gerda Dos Santos 076 6676548.
