Hluhluwe top cop inaugurated as Induna

Nxumalo follows in his late father Petros Nxumalo’s footsteps, who passed away in May. Nxumalo believes that being Induna will benefit his entire community as some of his work is to ensure that peace and stability prevails in the area

A TOP Hluhluwe policeman has earned the recognition of his community. Captain Eugene Nxumalo, a visible policing commander at the Hluhluwe police station, was inaugurated as the Induna of the Nqobokazi Reserve under the Ngwane Traditional Authority last Sunday.

Nxumalo follows in his late father Petros Nxumalo’s footsteps, who passed away in May. Nxumalo believes that being Induna will benefit his entire community as some of his work is to ensure that peace and stability prevails in the area.

‘There is a committee which I work with. Each member has his or her own portfolio. My knowledge and experience in policing will go a long way in ensuring that everyone is at peace with one another. ‘Knowing the law will also help prevent me from overstepping my authority,’ said Nxumalo.

He said being Induna will not hinder his work as police commander. ‘The combination of these two positions will benefit the entire community.’ The head of the Ngwane Traditional Authority, Inkosi Sabelo Ngwane, said Nxumalo’s attributes resemble those of his late father.

‘His late father was a respected man who led my people with great integrity. He instilled discipline and respect among the community. ‘Nxumalo possesses all those leadership qualities.’
