Good Samaritan helps hit-and-run victim

Cassandra-Lee Milford was travelling from home from work at Tuzi Gazi Waterfront on 6 September, when she was knocked off her scooter

A HIT-AND-RUN victim recovering in hospital after a near death experience, is grateful for the actions of a ‘Good Samaritan’ who came to her rescue.

Cassandra-Lee Milford was travelling from home from work at Tuzi Gazi Waterfront on 6 September, when she was knocked off her scooter.

The motorist sped off, but fortunately another motorist, Lungani Mnawah, stopped to assist her.

Milford was lucky to have escaped with injuries that did not require surgery.

While she cannot remember the details leading up to the crash, the impact pushed her off the road and into nearby bushes. She watched in disbelief as the car sped away.

Crawling to find her bag that was ejected from under the motorcycle seat, she managed to flag down Mnawah, who offered assistance and called the police.

‘I was not aware of the severity of my injuries and only realised the full extent of it when I got to the hospital.

‘My motorcycle was completely damaged and my helmet came off during the impact.

‘I sustained a fractured leg, dislodged a bone in my arm and had open leg wounds, bruises and scratches.

‘I hope the person who knocked me off the road comes forward and own up to this accident. It would have given me piece of mind if the motorist had stopped at the scene that night before leaving me in that state,’ she said.
