Money in your pocket?

Locals are urged to scrounge around all the dark corners of their households and dig through old boxes to possibly make some extra money

TWO vintage Durbanite collectors with over 50 years experience between them will be at the Empangeni Country Club on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm to do free valuations and buying of dated items.

Locals are urged to scrounge around all the dark corners of their households and dig through old boxes to possibly make some extra money.

Anton Oosthuizen from Eclectic and his friend Reg Moodley are excited to see what Zululanders have to bring to the table.

Oosthuizen started out as a coin collector, before meeting his wife who was in the vintage/salvage business. He told the ZO that the most interesting item he has come across was an 1876 Burger Pond, with the most common coin being the pre1971 R1 coin.

Moodley has been a collector for 30 years and dreams of opening a toy museum in Phoenix one day for the youth to enjoy. They will be looking for any ZAR Kruger coins and items, SA, Rhodesian and World Bank notes, foreign coins, silver tea sets, cutlery, trays, trophies, medals, cups and vintage watches and jewellery.

Do not clean the coins and remember to bring along your identity document. For any further information contact Anton on 073 1712316.
