Aquadene clinic now open on weekdays
The facility was opened on 1 August after Aquadene youth earlier this year lobbied for the facility to be reopened and services in the suburb be upgraded from the once a week mobile clinic service
AFTER a five-year closure, the Aquadene community clinic is now open again and services are being rendered five days a week.
The facility was opened on 1 August after Aquadene youth earlier this year lobbied for the facility to be reopened and services in the suburb be upgraded from the once a week mobile clinic service.
The youth group met with uMhlathuze Municipality officials and the Department of Health in April to request that health care services be reopened at the Aquadene community clinic.
The clinic was previously available only on Mondays and senior citizens and people with young children had no means of accessing health care services in Brackenham if they needed them on other days of the week.
The clinic is now open from 6.45am to 3.45pm on weekdays and community members are encouraged to visit the clinic well before closing time.
Services rendered include immunisation, family planning, cervical cancer screening, antenatal care, acute illnesses (sick and injured) and chronic conditions such as blood pressure, diabetes and anti-retroviral treatment.
