Five injured in cane hauler crash
Four of the car's occupants were trapped in their vehicle, which came to rest at the bottom of an embankment
AN accident between a sugar cane tractor and a light motor vehicle near Darnall on Tuesday evening left five people critically injured.
The tractor crossed the R102 when the car crashed into it.
Four of the car’s occupants were trapped in their vehicle, which came to rest at the bottom of an embankment.
IPSS Medical Rescue, together with the KwaDukuza fire department, used the Jaws of Life to free the injured before transporting them to a nearby hospital.
This is the second accident involving cane vehicles crossing the R102 at night.
On 15 June a cane loader was involved in a similar accident, also on the R102, but between Gingindlovu and Mtunzini.
