Cupcake cause raises funds for CANSA

The funds raised enable the organisation to assist about 70 patients each month to pay for their medical expenses, day-to-day needs and transport money to and from hospitals

The Cupcakes of Hope organisers are calling on avid bakers to join the cause and help make a difference in the lives of children with life threatening diseases.

Volunteers known as ‘Cupcake Angels’ can support National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer project on 28 September at the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre by baking cupcakes for the event, which the public can support with a donation of R10 per cupcake.

Founder Sandy Cipriano is calling on everyone to get involved.

Cipriano said she began this journey after her friend lost her three-year-old daughter to cancer.

In the first year R5 000 was raised and one little boy was assisted.

Eight years later the charity has helped more than 1 500 patients.

The funds raised enable the organisation to assist about 70 patients each month to pay for their medical expenses, day-to-day needs and transport money to and from hospitals.

To register to become a baker for National Cupcake Day, visit www.cupcakesofhope.org to find your nearest participating mall and contact the co-ordinator to make your pledge of 24-48 cupcakes.
