Mayor’s dismissal welcomed

Ntuli said it was time the two mayors were shown the door for having brought disgrace and scandal to their respective municipalities

NKANDLA mayor and IFP provincial chairperson Thami Ntuli has welcomed the ANC’s decision to dismiss Zandile Gumede and Themba Njilo from their respective posts as mayors in two of the province’s critical municipalities.

Ntuli said it was time the two mayors were shown the door for having brought disgrace and scandal to their respective municipalities.

He said the critical state in which the eThekwini metro finds itself, due to instability and political infighting, must now be corrected as residents bear the brutal brunt of inaction and incompetence in delivering basic services.

‘Our calls to have Zandile Gumede removed from office has been acceded to and we now want firm action taken against all officials implicated in the metro’s major corruption scandal.

‘Zandile Gumede certainly did not operate alone and all involved must be brought to book.

‘Since Gumede and Njilo took office, their respective municipal administrations have been poorly managed and the audit results for both have reflected this.

‘KZN residents have suffered enough in local governance under the ruling party,’ he said.
