Free Pap smear screenings in Women’s Month
Pap smear screening is an important means to detect cervical cancer and other serious conditions

One hundred ladies will be able to access free Pap smear screening during the month of August.
This is thanks to Dr Jayeshnee Moodley Inc’s annual Pap smear drive, which will take place every Friday between noon and 4pm for the duration of Women’s Month.
Pap smear screening is an important means to detect cervical cancer and other serious conditions.
Cervical cancer is the most common gynaecological cancer and affects one in every 42 women.
Dr Moodley, local specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, says women must empower themselves in the fight against cervical cancer.
‘Pap smear screening is the only tool we have available to diagnose pre-cancer lesions and ensure appropriate and timeous care for these women,’ she says.
‘Many women shy away from a Pap smear because of the fear and embarrassment associated with the procedure. The more women we can help, the faster our community will learn about the importance of a Pap smear and the diagnosis of cervical cancer.’
Dr Moodley’s Pap smear drive will be held at Suite 107, Melomed Private Hospital.
