NFP gears up for elective conferences
The party's interim National Executive Committee said all branches, regions and provinces were expected to elect their leaders in October this year
THE National Freedom Party is preparing to hold its second national elective conference in December to prepare for 2021 local government elections.
The party’s interim National Executive Committee said all branches, regions and provinces were expected to elect their leaders in October this year.
Acting Secretary General, Christopher Sibisi, said they have appointed a national task team to help make the elections processes manageable.
‘The task team will ensure that all structures are elected in a fair and transparent manner, particularly at branch level,’ said Sibisi.
He said the executive committee has taken a resolution to release new membership cards and books.
‘We want to emphasise that only new cards will be considered as legitimate membership cards, giving members access to participate in our conferences.
‘We have heard that there is another membership book doing the rounds, which is not the same as the one we are talking about. We therefore want to urge our members not to make use of those cards.
‘We strongly believe these membership booklets are meant to undermine the strategies and work of the executive committee.
Sibisi said action is being taken against people responsible for sowing discord and confusion through the issuing of these cards to serve their own agendas.
‘We further want to urge all our members to remain disciplined during this period when they lobby for their preferred candidates.’
Sibisi also clarified the issue pertaining to the resignation of party leader, Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi, from Parliament.
‘She resigned to focus on her health challenges and also to focus on rebuilding of the party,’ he said.
