SAPS supports Madiba Day initiative
The ZO will erect washing lines from 7.30am to noon in front of the newspaper’s offices in Empangeni (Baines Road) and in the open space between the Civic Centre and East Central Arterial in Richards Bay
WITH just one week to go to the ZO’s annual ‘Hang out with Madiba’ initiative on Thursday, 18 July, many local businesses and organisations have pledged their support in collecting clothing, blankets and soft toys for the under-privileged.
The ZO will erect washing lines from 7.30am to noon in front of the newspaper’s offices in Empangeni (Baines Road) and in the open space between the Civic Centre and East Central Arterial in Richards Bay.
This will be in partnership with the City of uMhlathuze, and the Empangeni and Richards Bay Rotary clubs.
Richards Bay SAPS is one of the organisations that will erect a washing line on their premises, with South32 Hillside Aluminium and the King Cetshwayo District Municipality also setting up their own lines.
The Rotary Club of Mtunzini will host a line in front of Mtunzini Primary School from 9am to noon.
Along with their items to donate, members of the public must bring pegs to hang their items on whichever line they choose to visit.
The items will be distributed by the ZO’s charity arm, DICE (Do I Care Enough?) to needy organisations and disaster management units.
Other companies are welcome to put up their own lines and drop the clothing off at the ZO afterwards for distribution. For more information, contact Dave Savides on 035 799050.
