Campaign to clean rivers in SA
This campaign calls on everyone to dedicate their 67 minutes of goodwill activities towards cleaning up rivers, streams, wetlands, dams, canals and any freshwater source

THE Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has embarking on a nationwide campaign to clean rivers this month.
This campaign calls on everyone to dedicate their 67 minutes of goodwill activities towards cleaning up rivers, streams, wetlands, dams, canals and any freshwater source.
‘Everyone is encouraged to participate in cleaning up our water ecosystems on any day during Mandela Month.
‘We strive to ensure that each and every citizen, especially the poor, has access to clean water,’ the department said.
They have called on communities to roll up their sleeves and participate.
‘Pollution is having a negative impact on our water resources, as it affects the quality as well as the quantity of usable water.
‘Waste dumped in our rivers also negatively affects the flow of rivers, resulting in lack of supply for downstream communities.
