Arts showdown in eSikhaleni
The initiative not only provided artists with advice on how to improve on their crafts, but gave them a platform to showcase their work
LOCAL artists were advised to take their craft seriously and work hard during the ward 16 Arts Showdown Battle in eSikhaleni last Saturday.
The programme started with an address by Zanele Thethwayo of the King Cetshwayo District Municipality arts and culture office, followed by Nana Tsatsi of uMhlathuze Municipality’s arts and culture department.
The initiative not only provided artists with advice on how to improve on their crafts, but gave them a platform to showcase their work.
Attendees also battled it out in hip hop, kwaito, poetry, dance and gospel.
The winners of each category received huge prize packages, which included a professional photo shoot, profile, a marketing strategy from various companies as well as radio time.
They also received medals, trophies and certificates, and were all invited to be part of the Madiba Magic Music Festival.
