Thousands of eSikhaleni residents have been left without electricity yesterday (Monday) owing to vandalism.

According to Eskom, the electricity supply was interrupted after criminals vandalised the Eskom Zircon substation.

‘Control plant cables from the high voltage yard to the panels and cables from the transformers were stolen and three feeders were affected.

Eskom technicians reconfigured the feeders so that customers could be supplied with electricity from another substation.
