Thousands of sanitary wear distributed to Zululand schools
Together Hillside Aluminium and Imbumba Foundation will continue to reach and support as many girls as possible through the Caring4Girls initiative
Local corporate, Hillside Aluminium has made a difference to young girls in high schools surrounding their operation through their a R1-million sponsorship towards Imbumba Foundation to roll out a Caring4Girls programme.

This programme has been successfully rolled out in many schools and young women have benefited from it while at the same time being educated on puberty and menstrual hygiene.

Hillside teams travelled to the areas of Mandlanzini, Madlankala, Gobandlovu, kaMthwethwa and Ndlangubo to hand over around 1 500 packs of sanitary towels over three days.

Hillside Aluminium’s employee ambassadors Ellie Moshoane (manager Casthouse) and Zanele Madinane (Manager – T, L & S) together with representatives from Imbumba Foundation visited Mcabango, Matamzana, Isiphephelo, Lizwi and Mgitshwa High Schools near Empangeni and Richards Bay.

At the five high schools the teams were met with much excitement from all the girls.
At Mcabango High, the principal took the opportunity to thank Hillside and proudly announced a 100% pass rate in 2018.

Girls were encouraged to chase a better life under any circumstances and to invest in their own futures to ensure they stay at school and follow the dream set for them by former President Nelson Mandela who said: ‘Young people must take it upon themselves to ensure that they receive the highest education possible so that they can represent us well in the future as future leaders.’
