Local health practitioners honoured

Eshowe health practitioners were invited onto the stage on two occasions to receive awards at the Department of Health's MEC Service Excellence Awards

ESHOWE health practitioners were invited onto the stage on two occasions to receive awards at the Department of Health’s MEC Service Excellence Awards (MASEA) held in Pietermaritzburg recently.

A King Cetshwayo emergency medical services team based in eShowe – MD Laing, S Makhanya and BV Ndwandwe – were recognised for assisting a 20-year-old pregnant woman who experienced sudden complications.

A community health facilitator from eShowe District Hospital, Gugu Mlotshwa, was honoured for going the extra mile when she helped a physically disabled teenager to receive social support, an ID and a disability grant.

Congratulating the winners, KZN Health MEC, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo said, ‘This was our 6th annual service excellence awards and we now realise its impact on our staff members.

‘It boosts the morale of our staff members who are out there, working extremely hard to improve the quality of service for our country, and its citizens.’
