Five rabies cases reported in KZN
The three cases in eThekwini were all dogs and were reported in Dassenkoek, Newlands and Westville

AFTER a quiet two weeks with no rabies cases being reported, two cases from the furthest south and north areas of Zululand have been reported for the week of 23 to 29 March.
Three cases were tested positive in the Durban area.
A horse was found to be rabid in the uMhlali area in the Illembe District and a dog in Makhonyeni near Jozini.
The three cases in eThekwini were all dogs and were reported in Dassenkoek, Newlands and Westville.
Pet owners are reminded that they are under a legal obligation to ensure their dogs and cats are vaccinated against rabies.
Rabies outbreaks occur when people get lazy, stop vaccinating and believe ‘it won’t happen to my pet’.
As a result, people die of rabies, mostly children.
