Proteas in good form ahead of World Cup

Protea fire burns strong ahead of 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

THE Proteas flame has been burning bright on the one-day-international cricket scene for just over a year, with the squad recording five ODI series win since their 5-1 loss to India last year February.

Coach Ottis Gibson and his troops have been on a good run of form lately, recording a 3-2 series win over Sri Lanka, 3-0 win over Zimbabwe, 2-1 win over Australia, 3-2 win over Pakistan and the recently a comprehensive 5-0 win over Sri Lanka.

This is great news for fans heading into the ICC Cricket World Cup which starts in May.

South Africa will take on England in their opening game and will come up against India, New Zealand and Australia later in the competition.

Proteas World Cup fixtures

30 May – vs England at Kia Oval in London at 11.30am.

2 June – vs Bangladesh at Kia Oval in London at 11:30am

5 June – vs India at the Ageas Bowl in Southamton at 11.30am.

10 June – West Indies at The Ageas Bowl in Southamton at 11.30am.

15 June – vs Afghanistan at SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff at 14.30pm.

19 June – vs New Zealand at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham at 11.30am.

23 June – vs Pakistan at Lord’s in London at 11.30am.

28 June – vs Sri Lanka at Riverside Ground at 11.30am.

6 July – vs Australia at Old Trafford in Manchester at 14.30pm.

9 and 11 July – Semi-finals.

14 July – Finals at Lord’s in London at 11.30am.
