Mtunzini Rotary project boosts literacy

The Second Wind Foundation in Texas was approached to become involved in the literacy project, and its donation of a container full of books, was recently delivered in Mtunzini

AS part of one of its missions to improve literacy among neighbouring communities, Mtunzini Rotary received a large consignment of books from an American foundation for distribution in the region.

The Second Wind Foundation in Texas was approached to become involved in the literacy project, and its donation of a container full of books, was recently delivered in Mtunzini.

The delivery and transport of the container was facilitated by Middelburg and Durban North Rotary clubs.

The consignment ranges from pre-school books to novels, teenage literature, spiritual, maths, geography, literature, science and technology books.

Schools, orphanages, crèches and other needy organisations were informed about the donation and at least 15 organisations, including the local prison and several schools from Mkhuze, Mandini, Dundee and beyond have already benefitted from this project, which is still ongoing.

Anybody who wants to offer assistance with the project or has books to donate, can contact Elize Viljoen on elize@1kzntv.co.za or Carol Scheepers on carolyn.scheepers@gmail.com.
