Construction damage to homes investigated
The construction work affected the Buthelezi and Dumisa families, but the extent of damage to their properties and graveyards was unclear
THE King Cetshwayo District Municipality has committed itself to assist families whose land has been affected by contractors working on the construction of a water reservoir in the Hlokohloko area.
This commitment was made by Deputy Mayor Alice Mthembu, who said municipal officials would visit the area to meet with the traditional council, Ward 9 Councillor Mdu Dludla and the two families concerned on Thursday.

The construction work affected the Buthelezi and Dumisa families, but the extent of damage to their properties and graveyards was unclear.
According to Cllr Dludla, the construction work did not affect the entire community other than the two families, as people were still able to access water.
Cllr Melina Naidoo, who is the district’s chairperson of the Municipal Public Committee, said they had given the technical portfolio committee 60 days to look into the issue and work on solutions.
