A COMMUNITY outreach programme to help the youth in the KwaDukuza municipal area to access financial assistance for registration at institutions of high learning, attracted hundreds of applicants.
The municipal’s Youth Development Business Unit hosted the programme between 9 and 15 January, aimed at bringing support to those youth wishing to apply for financial assistance and also catered for the Independent Electoral Commission’s address verification drive.

Speaking at the event held at the Thembeni Community Hall, Youth and Sports Development Manager Wiseman Cele said the programme was initiated to meet a need in communities and encourage youngsters to further their education.
Thembeni Community Councillor Ntokozo Mbatha said when such opportunities are brought to communities as opposed to them being centralised, many more people are able to gain access.
