Roller-coaster ride for King Cetshwayo

The home side had their tails up and wagging after dismissing the Durban outfit for a mediocre 127 in the 38th over

THE RH Construction King Cetshwayo cricket team put on a roller-coaster performance against Delta in their Castle Premier League 50-over match played at Addison Park on Sunday.

The home side had their tails up and wagging after dismissing the Durban outfit for a mediocre 127 in the 38th over.

Speed merchant Neill Jordan was on fire, picking up a fiver for 17 runs in nine overs.

He was backed up by fellow bowlers Stephan Joubert (2/31 in 9), Chad Neuhoff (1/29 in 5.3) and Ruan Janse van Rensburg (1/22 in 7).

But with all to play for, the local squad’s batsmen also fell apart, failing to piece together any meaningful partnerships and were skittled out for a mere 104 runs in the 37th over – 23 short of the target.

Simon Savides top scored with 29 before being caught by Thirushen Naidoo off the bowling of Mohamed Patel.

Opener Zakhele Ntuli contributed 25 before being bowled by a beaut of a delivery from Mahmed Motala.

Melvyn Jackson (11) and Janse van Rensburg (10) were the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Jason Redinger’s troops will look to make amends on Sunday when they take on Crusaders at Addison Park.
