No road fatalities over festive period

According to local paramedics, it was a reasonably quiet festive period and a good start to the new year

DESPITE a number of road accidents recorded in the district over the festive period, none resulted in any major injuries or fatalities.

According to local paramedics, it was a reasonably quiet festive period and a good start to the new year.

‘It was a very quiet one on our side, nothing major. Just a few minor bumper-to-bumper stuff. Even at the beach everything was fine,’ said Lucky Sibisi of Kwazulu Private Ambulance.

Mounties Emergency Services owner Joseph Kruger said it was a much better start to the year compared to previous years.

‘Nothing big to report on our side. We didn’t receive any phone calls for any major incidents.

Tracey Coertse of Meditrax Ambulance Services echoed Sibisi and Kruger’s sentiments and said they also recorded no major incidents.

Keith Nair of Keith’s Towing Service said while they attended to a number of accidents, there were no fatalities and very few major injuries.

King Cetshwayo District Municipality Fire Chief, Thabo Mlambo, welcomed the good start to the year.

‘While we were expecting more incidents, it was generally quiet despite a handful of minor incidents here and there.’
