Christmas cheer for local field rangers
This is the fifth year the rangers have received hampers in appreciation of their hard work, long hours and weeks at a time spent away from their loved ones
FIELD rangers stationed within the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (HiP) were acknowledged for their hard work and long hours when they each received a Christmas hamper from Spar KZN.
Together with Hilltop (Hluhluwe) and iMfolozi Honorary Officers, Spar KZN visited various ranger camps in HiP and delivered 190 hampers to highly appreciative rangers.
This is the fifth year the rangers have received hampers in appreciation of their hard work, long hours and weeks at a time spent away from their loved ones.
In addition to the hampers, Spar KZN committed R40 000, raised from its 2018 charity golf day, towards much-needed upgrading of infrastructure in a number of the camps.
Speaking at the handover, Clive Honman, Chairman of the Hilltop Honorary Officers, thanked Spar for their efforts in bringing a little cheer to the field rangers who are at the forefront of conservation and anti-poaching.
He also thanked the field rangers, citing how grateful the Honorary Officers, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, visitors and the people of the country are, for their work and dedication.
‘We are once again delighted to be able to utilise our resources to offer a token of our appreciation to the men and women working tirelessly to protect our natural resources at the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park,’ said Max Oliva, Spar KZN MD.
‘Heartfelt thanks must also go to the volunteer Honorary Officers, who give of their time and energy to support the park and the field rangers in the work they do.
‘We would like to encourage more people and organisations to get involved in supporting them and their initiatives.’
