Empangeni and Arbovlei Community Policing Forum on the move
According to Empangeni CPF Chairperson Zonita Grobbelaar, a vagrant was arrested at a vacant home which CPF and SAPS members searched
A JOINT operation between Empangeni Community Policing Forum (CPF) members and SAPS resulted in the arrest of one person on Friday night.
According to Empangeni CPF Chairperson Zonita Grobbelaar, a vagrant was arrested at a vacant home which CPF and SAPS members searched.
‘We started at about 8:15pm on Friday night and patrolled the suburbs before going to three vacant homes which we are aware of.
‘The first two homes searched were all clear, but at the third home there was a vagrant sleeping inside.
‘He tried to flee but was apprehended by members in the greenbelt behind the home.
‘SAPS detained him and took him in for questioning.’
Grobbelaar has in the past noted that vacant homes and buildings in the town provide a perfect hideout for petty criminals.
‘We have been monitoring a number of homes in Empangeni that are vacant and do regular searches at these premises,’ she said.
Meanwhile Empangeni residents are being reminded to attend the monthly CPF meeting which will be held on Tuesday, 27 November at the Empangeni Civic Centre (Supper Hall) at 6pm.
